Hongjoo Kim Landscape Architects, Inc. is based in Los Angeles, California, where highly urbanized metropolitan culture and complicated urban nature coexist. Through the collaborative process of design, contextual exploration of landscape art, and innovative techniques of urban ecology, the firm intends to harmonize human and nature.

Hongjoo Kim is a founding Principal and Design Director of Hongjoo Kim Landscape Architects, Inc. With previous experience at both AHBE Landscape Architects and Mia Lehrer + Associates as a Principal, Mr. Kim brings over 20 years of invaluable art, technology and services to the communities and clients he serves.
Mr. Kim's design philosophy is crystallized by making spaces that are highly creative, yet simple and strong where natural process and cultural needs can be harmonized. He often stresses the importance of the urban open space by asserting that "the urban open space is the pinnacle of democratic practice in human culture where everyone regardless of their origin, color, religion and interest can be together to share their thoughts and experience."
Mr. Kim holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Landscape Architecture from Kyungwon University, South Korea, Masters of Landscape Architecture both from University of Colorado at Denver and Harvard University Graduate School of Design. He is a recipient of the American Society of Landscape Architects' Honor Award for Excellence in the Study of Landscape Architecture in 1997 and numerous professional awards through his career.
Mr. Kim has lectured internationally and has served as a design instructor, lecturer, and critic at USC, UCLA, California State University at Pomona, University of California at Irvine, University of Colorado at Denver, University of Oklahoma, ASLA conferences, and International Federation of Landscape Architects conferences.
He is a licensed Landscape Architect in California, Oregon, and Idaho.
